Harshad Chopda's decision to leave his place in the Lock Upp Season 2 finale week to save Shivangi Joshi was one of the biggest highlights. Riteish Deshmukh, the host, has offered his opinion as the dramatic turn of events continues to divide fans.

While many viewers applauded Harshad's kind gesture for a friend, others called out Shivangi for guilt-tripping him into giving up his spot.

Riteish Deshmukh On Harshad-Shivangi Twist

Riteish Deshmukh told Variety India that the dynamics within the reality show are much more complex than they seem from the outside. "I guess, when you care for someone as a friend, then you support them. It is not a one-way thing on the show. Even Shreya and Shilpa look out for each other."

He further added, "You make partners in the game to figure out how to play. It is difficult, as at times you want to play together and at times, you need to play for yourself."

Riteish believed that Harshad played for himself too. "These are calls you need to take. Eventually, there will be only one winner. I believe Harshad has played for himself too, and also looked out for Shivangi. Both of them also played as individuals. Sometimes, they take a stand for each other, which is wonderful to see."

Riteish Deshmukh's Favourite Lock Upp Contestant

Additionally, Riteish insisted that he didn't have a favourite contestant, stating that he respected each person's journey.

"I have enjoyed everyone's journey. Everyone has had their own ups and downs, had great two-three weeks, followed by a quieter one or two weeks. But I think towards the finale, almost all rose to the occasion. They gave their best, and it has been wonderful. I like all of them."

Picking names, he said, "I like Shreya Kalra, Shilpa Shinde, Yogesh Rawat, Akanksha Chaudhary, Ram Kapoor, Pamala Serena, everyone. I miss having Sunita Ji (Sunita Ahuja) in the show."

What Happened Between Harshad Chopda And Shivangi Joshi?

Harshad Chopda became the first finalist after winning the previous day's task. Meanwhile, Shreya Kalra received a special power that allowed her to eliminate one contestant. Using that power, Shreya chose Shivangi Joshi, putting the actor's place in the competition in danger.

Harshad broke down in tears and kept requesting Shreya not to evict Shivangi. Seeing him emotional, Riteish gave Harshad a choice. He could give up his finalist spot and leave the show, and in return, Shivangi would be safe.

Harshad agreed without a second thought. He decided to sacrifice his place in the competition so Shivangi could continue her journey.
