From Chennai and Bengaluru to Dubai, Singapore, Japan and North America, Rajinikanth fans turned the first day of Jailer 2 into a carnival. Dancing, prayer, garlanded cutouts, firecrackers, and packed early-morning shows filled the air.

Rajinikanth Fans Celebrate Jailer 2 Release

The celebrations began thousands of kilometres from Chennai, long before sunrise in India. In Dubai, theatres at Deira City Centre were full by 3 AM, and crowds kept chanting Rajinikanth's name into the early hours.

In Bengaluru, fans set off big rounds of fireworks before the 6:30 AM shows. Outside the theatres, crowds offered prayers and broke coconuts on the pavement. Tall cutouts stood covered in large flower garlands.

In Singapore, fans filled cinemas for the early shows and lit up the dark with their phone torches. North America saw similar scenes. Cinema lobbies in Canada were packed. Fans in the US danced on the streets outside theatres. In New Jersey, local fan clubs said all the early shows were full. Moviegoers were welcomed with life-size cutouts and balloons.

Jailer 2 is also the first Rajinikanth film to open in India and Japan on the same day. A Japanese fan shared a video of custom merchandise on social media, asking, "Japan Rajinikanth fans, are you ready?"

In Chennai, Rajinikanth's daughter Soundarya unveiled a promotional LED banner at Kashi Theatre, according to ANI. She also danced with fans to a song from the first Jailer.

Fans also held special prayers for the film's success and for Rajinikanth's health. Speaking to PTI Videos, Chennai fan Ravi said he had watched Rajinikanth's films since childhood. He hoped that Jailer 2 would do better than the original.
