Jana Nayagan CBFC Cuts: Full List Of 12 Edits, From TVK Reference To Indian Flag Scene

Thalapathy Vijay's Jana Nayagan is set to release in theatres on July 24, 2026. Suprith Mohan, business head and producer at KVN Productions, confirmed the release date, stating, "We‘ll be releasing the movie worldwide on July 24."

12 edits Censor Board demanded for Jana Nayagan

1. Removal of TVK references: All audio and video mentions of 'TVK' were completely muted and modified throughout the film. A dialogue segment referring to "Ambedkar... to... TVK sattam" was replaced.
2. Ambedkar Visual Modification: All visual frames showing the image of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar on a book cover had to be modified.
3. Flag Scene Deletion: The board ordered the complete deletion of a visual sequence depicting the Indian National Flag falling to the ground.
4. Religious Names Muted: The words 'Bhagavatham' and 'Ranganathar' were muted.
5. Sacred Syllable Cut: The word OM was removed from a dialogue where it was used to explain a fictional plot point called "Operation Meluha".
6. National Reference Muted: The dialogue phrase "India en kalla vizha vaikaren" was muted.
7. Religious Term Muted: The word "Siluvaila" (meaning "on the cross") was muted.
8. Profanity Censored: Strong regional expletives, specifically the words Thevidiya Paiya and Oththa, were completely muted.
9. Entire Dialogue Block Blocked: An entire spoken line beginning with the words "Ponnoda..." was ordered to be entirely muted.
10. Character Name Change: The character name "Sheela Rani" (played by Priyamani) was completely replaced with an alternative name.
11. Visuals of Violence & Disrespect Replaced: Graphic visuals depicting a child burning were ordered to be deleted.
12. A scene showing a District Collector's office badge and a cigarette being rolled down was replaced.
