According to reports in Filmibeat, Nandamuri Balakrishna's Akhanda 2 is made on a budget of Rs 120 crore, making it one of the costliest Telugu movie in recent times.

Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Telugu movie Akhanda 2-Thaandavam hit theares on December 12. The movie initially slated for December 5 release was postponed a few hours before its premiere leaving fans in shock. Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 Trailer: The trailer hints at a full-blown wedding comedy as Kapil Sharma’s character lands in yet another complicated marital situation. It opens with him confessing to a church priest that in his search for true love, he ended up marrying three women, each from a different religion leading to hilarious confusion and chaos.

Director Anukalp Goswami, who has previously worked with Kapil in live shows, revealed what it’s like collaborating with him on a film. He said Kapil has an exceptional instinct for comedy and knows exactly how to deliver jokes that connect with audiences. Anukalp explained that their process is highly collaborative, first building everything on paper and then refining it together. While Kapil can improvise, he understood that film requires him to stay true to the character’s structure. According to Anukalp, Kapil is equally brilliant in tightly written fiction as well as spontaneous live performances.

Harshaali Malhotra, loved nationwide for her role as Munni in the 2015 hit Bajrangi Bhaijaan, makes her Telugu film debut with Akhanda 2: Thaandavam. Harshaali became a household name for her moving performance as Shahida, the mute Pakistani girl rescued by Salman Khan’s character. Now, at 17, she is ready for her next big-screen chapter.

After the controversy, in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), the distributors og Akhanda wrote that despite their best efforts, unexpected hurdles prevented the film’s release. They apologised to fans worldwide and thanked Nandamuri Balakrishna and director Boyapati Srinu for standing by them during a difficult time. They assured that Akhanda 2 will arrive “very soon” with a new date.

According to a report in Hindustan Times, Eros filed an appeal related to an earlier arbitral award against 14 Reels Entertainment Private Limited. Eros is owed nearly Rs 28 crore under this order and sought urgent court intervention to ensure the award is enforced. Eros claimed that releasing Akhanda 2 would be “an indirect attempt to avoid compliance” with their legal dues. The court then directed that the film cannot be released in cinemas, online platforms or via satellite until the outstanding amount is cleared.

Balakrishna confirmed the updated release schedule on Instagram with a new poster. He wrote, “All set for the Divine Destruction at the box office. Experience the massive power of Akhanda 2 in cinemas from 12 December, with grand premieres on 11 December. Bookings opening soon!” The last-minute delay earlier had left fans surprised, but excitement has quickly returned.

The 2015 original starred Kapil Sharma along with Varun Sharma, Manjari Fadnis, Simran Kaur Mundi, Sai Lokur and Elli Avram. The new film continues the comedy chaos from where the first story left off.

Akhanda 2: Thaandavam brings back Balakrishna in three powerful roles. The cast also includes Samyuktha, Aadhi Pinisetty and 17-year-old Harshaali Malhotra. Thaman S has composed the music, which has already received strong fan appreciation. The technical team features cinematographers C Ramprasad and Santoshh D Detakae, editor Tammiraju, and production designer AS Prakash.

Kapil Sharma recently shared a funny incident from shooting a romantic sequence in Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2. He said on a podcast that while most of the film involved comedy, things got awkward during a romantic song with Warina in Bhopal especially because his wife Ginni was watching him from the monitor. Kapil joked that his hands were shaking while he was asked to look into the heroine’s eyes. “Whenever I went to Ginni after the shot complaining about the heat, she would say, ‘Why worry? You’re enjoying.’”

Directed by Boyapati Srinu, Akhanda 2: Thaandavam is the sequel to the 2021 blockbuster Akhanda. The Nandamuri Balakrishna-led Telugu film was initially set to release on 5 December but was pushed to 12 December. The distributor, 14 Reels Plus LLP, announced that they were unable to release the film due to “unavoidable circumstances.”

The sequel introduces a new set of actors, including Tridha Choudhary, Parul Gulati, Ayesha Khan, Manjot Singh, Akhilendra Mishra, Vipin Sharma and more in key roles. The film is written and directed by Anukalp Goswami and produced by Ratan Jain, Ganesh Jain and Abbas-Mustan.
