Michael Box Office Collection Day 7: The highly anticipated Michael Jackson biopic, Michael, has officially completed its first week in Indian cinemas. Despite facing tough competition from local Bollywood hits, the film has managed to hold its ground. Starring Jaafar Jackson, the late King of Pop’s actual nephew, the film has resonated deeply with Indian audiences since its release on April 24.

According to Sacnilk, Michael earned Rs 2.50 crore on its seventh day. This figure shows a slight improvement over its Wednesday earnings of Rs 2.40 crore. By the end of its first week, the film’s total net collection in India stands at Rs 26.05 crore, with the gross collection reaching Rs 31.19 crore. 

The biopic has faced significant stiff competition from major Hindi films such as Akshay Kumar's horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla and the action-packed Dhurandhar 2. Globally, the film is performing exceptionally well, already racing past the $218 million mark.

Anupam Kher Praises Jaafar Jackson’s Performance

While critics have offered mixed reviews, veteran Indian actor Anupam Kher has share positive review. After watching the movie, Anupam Kher shared an emotional video on Instagram. He stated, "In every sequence, I was whistling. I am like a child right now, to feel that somebody like that lived in our lifetime. And Jaafar Jackson, oh my God, it's one of the finest performances I have seen in my entire career. He is Michael Jackson. The whole crowd in the auditorium was dancing, whistling, laughing and crying."

Anupam Kher further defended the film against its critics by writing, "MICHAEL IS MAGIC: Last night I watched the biopic Michael on the one and only Michael Jackson. Phenomenal. Inspiring. Deeply moving. I must confess, I don't understand English music as much as I understand emotions. But with Michael Jackson, language was never a barrier. Just like Charlie Chaplin, he spoke directly to the heart. And the heart understands everything."

Directed by Antoine Fuqua, Michael covers the icon's journey from the Jackson 5 era to his record-breaking solo tours, providing a look at the man behind the music.
