Earlier this year, Prabhas and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s first collaboration, Spirit, was announced. The makers announced that the film would arrive on March 5, 2027. However, recently, Vanga announced that Spirit has a new release date and will hit the theatres on October 29, 2027.
The change in release date brings Spirit into the same festive release window as Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana Part 2. The two movies have different premises, but both are major star-led theatrical projects targeting a holiday release. Whether they ultimately open on the same day remains to be seen, as Ramayana 2’s release date is yet to be announced.
Spirit New Release Date: When Will Prabhas’s Movie Hit Theatres?
Director Sandeep Ranga Vanga confirmed that Spirit will release worldwide on October 29, 2027. The filmmaker revealed the new date alongside a poster featuring Prabhas.
The new release date places Spirit in the Diwali holiday season, when major Indian films compete for audiences.
None of the filmmakers or actors has provided a specific reason for the delay in release.
Spirit marks the first collaboration between Prabhas and Vanga. The film also stars Triptii Dimri, Vivek Oberoi and Prakash Raj, according to reports on the project. Prabhas is set to play a police officer, a role that gives the actor-director collaboration a different setting from Vanga’s previous films.
Will Prabhas’s Spirit Clash With Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana 2 At Box Office?
A box-office clash between two big star movies is now a possibility.
However, the exact release date needs to be confirmed by Ramayana Part 2 makers. Earlier, Ramayana Part 2 was scheduled for Diwali 2027.
The potential box office face-off would bring two very different cinematic experiences to the same holiday audience. Spirit is an action thriller led by Prabhas and directed by Vanga, while Ramayana is a large-scale adaptation of the Indian epic, directed by Nitesh Tiwari and featuring Yash as Ravana, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Sunny Deol as Hanuman.
What Is Spirit About?
Written and directed by Sandeep Ranga Vanga, Spirit has Prabhas as a disgraced police officer. Triptii Dimri stars opposite Prabhas, while Vivek Oberoi and Kanchana are also part of the cast.
The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Pranay Reddy Vanga and Prabhakar Reddy Vanga under T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures.
While Ramayana Part 2 remains scheduled for Diwali 2027 without a specific day announced, the coming months will clarify whether the two productions stick to their current plans or there will be a calendar change again.
