Actor Ranbir Kapoor has apologised for a slip of the tongue at a Dussehra event in West Bengal on October 20. He addressed the incident on Wednesday, October 21, at the grand musical event and full-album launch of his upcoming film Ramayana in Chennai.

At the Chennai event, Ranbir admitted his mistake. He then said what he had meant to tell the gathering in Kolkata.

"I apologise for an incident that happened yesterday. I was at a Dussehra event, and I had a slip of the tongue. What I meant to say was, 'Burai chahe kitni bhi taaqatwar kyun na ho, aakhir mein jeet sachchai aur achhai ki hogi'," he said.

To explain what went wrong, the actor remembered a song from Rockstar, the film where he worked with music composer AR Rahman. He quoted its lyrics to show how words can fail at the wrong moment. "Jo bhi main kehna chahoon, barbaad karein alfaaz mere."

Ranbir Kapoor ended his remarks by repeating his apology for the goof-up.

What Did Ranbir Kapoor Say?

The Kolkata event was held around Dussehra. The 44-year-old actor was speaking about the festival's message and how it connects to the epic. One line stood out, and it left the internet confused.

Ranbir said Dussehra reminds us of a beautiful truth. No matter how powerful evil is, truth and goodness should win in the end. But the word he used gave the sentence the opposite meaning, saying it was the end of truth and goodness.

"Dussehra hume ek bahut khoobsurat baat yaad dilati hai ki burai chahe jitni bhi taakatwar kyun na ho, aakhir mein ant sachchai aur achhai ki hi hogi."

The actor most likely meant the opposite of what he said. The moment baffled social media users, and the wording became a talking point online.
