Naagzilla Postponed?: After Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, Kartik Aaryan is all set for his next movie, Naagzilla. The much-anticipated fantasy comedy, backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, may not slither into theatres as planned, according to reports. The film was scheduled to hit theatres on August 14 this year. However, reports suggest that the Kartik-starrer is still underway and will take a few more months to wrap up. Since the film involves heavy VFX work, the makers are in no rush to finish the project and are likely to announce a new release date soon.
Is Kartik Aaryan’s Naagzilla Getting Postponed?
According to a source quoted by Bollywood Hungama, Naagzilla is still in the filming stage and post-production will require additional time, increasing the possibility of delay in the film's release.
“Naagzilla’s shoot is still going on and is expected to be wrapped up in a few months. Moreover, this is a film with heavy VFX. As a result, the post-production is going to take a lot of time. The makers of the film and lead actor Kartik Aaryan are very clear that they don’t want to rush through the process. They are aware that they have a special film in hand and want to nurture and fine-tune it properly before presenting it to the audience. The makers of Naagzilla are looking for a new date and once it is locked, it will be officially announced," a source said.
The movie is directed by Fukrey fame Mrighdeep Singh Lamba. Kartik Aaryan will be seen portraying Preyamvadeshwar Pyare Chand, a serpent who can transform into a human, an ichchhadhari naag and embarks on a new adventure. Produced by Karan Johar, Mahaveer Jain, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Mrighdeep Singh Lamba, and Sujit Jain, Naagzilla explores fantasy, folklore, and a dose of entertainment. The film marks Kartik’s second project with Karan after Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri.
Beyond this, Kartik Aaryan will also be seen in a new avatar in Anurag Basu’s untitled romantic drama opposite Telugu actress Sreeleela, marking her Bollywood debut.
