Preity Zinta's Madam H has become one of the most talked-about characters in Kunal Kemmu's Vibe. But was his wife, actor Soha Ali Khan, ever considered for the role? Speaking exclusively to The Daily Jagran, the actor-filmmaker revealed that he thought about casting Soha, but chose not to take the idea forward.

Preity played a fiery and commanding national security intelligence chief in Vibe. Her character recruited two clueless slackers and sent them on a high-stakes national security mission. Given the role's importance, Kunal admitted that he had considered the idea but never brought it up with Soha or anyone else.

Why Preity Zinta And Not Soha Ali Khan In Vibe?

Kunal Kemmu said, "I think I definitely toyed with the idea. I'd be lying if I said I didn't. I never voiced it. But I don't know because there were a lot of things in play. There are things that I want to do, but then there are things that also have to make sense for not just me as a maker, but for the film overall and the studios and everybody."

He further explained that he did not want to take on another responsibility while already juggling several aspects of the film. "And I had anyways taken a lot of responsibilities. So I did not want to be responsible for one more. So I think I chose like one lesser responsibility in that way by not voicing it."

Kunal has spoken about wanting to cast actors in roles that move away from what audiences may initially expect from them. His decision to cast Sparsh Shrivastava in Vibe also came after he reworked the character to suit the actor.

A similar thought process appears to have worked for Madam H. He felt Preity fit the character and ultimately trusted his instinct while making the casting decision.

"And I think Preity definitely fit the bill. Like, I mean, these were actors who kind of were the people when you're thinking like, okay, this can be Madam H, she can be Madam H, she can be Madam H. So they were all there. But like, I think I went at the end of the day with my gut."

The director was also happy that Preity agreed to take on the part. Her presence brought a different energy to Madam H. "And I was very happy that Preity agreed to kind of play this part."

Kunal Kemmu's comments also fit with his larger approach to casting in Vibe. He has said that he likes putting actors in roles that challenge expectations instead of restricting them to the image audiences already have of them.
