Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups sparked debate over its intimate scenes, with Yash at CinemaCon crediting Geetu Mohandas’s 'female gaze' and noting the rarity of women directing large-scale action films in India. Toxic features Yash in a dual role alongside Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria and Rukmini Vasanth. Produced by Venkat K. Narayana and Yash under KVN Productions and Monster Mind Creations, the film was shot simultaneously in Kannada and English and is reportedly mounted on a massive Rs 700–800 crore budget, making it one of India’s most expensive films.
According to Hindustan Times, Yash said at CinemaCon, "That’s the most exciting part. So what happens is that when you generally say action films, it’s only restricted to male directors. That’s been historically (true) in India. A lot of people have done that. A large-scale action film, that too a gangster film with a female gaze, is something which is very new and refreshing."

The actor further added, "Thoughts are very clear, and she has a strong conviction in whatever she does. And she’s a fabulous writer. I could learn so much, you know. The desire quotient or certain emotions, romance or sensuality, how a female can show, a woman can present is entirely different is what I’ve realised in this journey."
Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups was announced in December 2023 under the working title Yash 19, marking Yash’s 19th film as a lead. The official title was revealed shortly after.
Principal photography took place between August 2024 and October 2025 across multiple locations including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Goa, Thoothukudi and Jaipur. The film’s cinematography is handled by Rajeev Ravi, with music composed by Ravi Basrur, Vishal Mishra, Tanishk Bagchi, Faheem Abdullah and Arslan Nizami. The film is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on June 4, 2026.
