Why Pooja Meri Jaan Faced Delay?
Pooja Meri Jaan director Navjot Gulati revealed to Variety India that his father's final wish was to see the premiere of his movie. He claimed that his father died in 2024 after spending over three months on his deathbed asking when Pooja Meri Jaan would be released.
He stated that the co-producer of the movie, Amar Kaushik, stopped returning his calls and messages since their last chat in October 2025. "I'm tired of calling and texting and yet not hearing back. The only reason I'm telling this to the world is because they refuse to have any sort of accountability."
Navjot Gulati added, "The film remains topical and relevant even today, but I fear if I don't do something, the film will never be released because they don't care about it. I don't want it to become Shoojit Sircar's Shoebite, which is only talked about but was never released."
Navjot Gulati disclosed that Maddock Films was asking for a higher price for the film's OTT rights, which he said he understood. However, he pointed out that the release had already been delayed several times, from 2024 to 2025 and then to February 2026. He added that while an OTT platform was interested in buying Pooja Meri Jaan, price negotiations had been going on for the past nine months, calling it an 'unending cycle.'
He also revealed that Pooja Meri Jaan was originally made for OTT release and was supposed to stream on JioCinema. But after JioCinema merged with Disney+ Hotstar, the makers were informed that they were free to sell the film to another streaming platform.
