Matka King centered on the entrepreneurial and astute cotton dealer Brij Bhatti, portrayed by the charismatic Vijay Varma, as he makes his way through the rapidly shifting Bombay of the 1960s in search of respect and legitimacy. What starts off as an ambitious notion quickly takes on a life of its own, attracting individuals from all socioeconomic classes, set against a backdrop of busy markets, packed chawls, and shifting power relations.
