While Stranger Things officially wraps up its story with the fifth and final season, the journey through this beloved universe is far from over. The franchise is expanding beyond the live-action series, ensuring that fans still have more stories to look forward to even after the curtain falls on the main saga set in Hawkins. Netflix has announced a brand-new animated spinoff titled Stranger Things: Tales From ’85, scheduled to arrive in the coming year.

Set between Seasons 2 and 3, the series will explore previously untold adventures, bringing familiar characters back into action as they face new monsters and fresh supernatural threats. The animated format will also allow the show to deliver long-awaited character interactions that never fully unfolded in the original series, including Eleven rejoining the core friend group alongside Will and Max.

While the original cast will not return, the animated spinoff promises fresh adventures, with the Duffer Brothers, Hilary Leavitt and Shawn Levy as executive producers and Eric Robles serving as showrunner, and is expected to release on Netflix in 2026. At the same time, a highly secretive live-action spinoff is also in development, described as a 'clean slate' set in a new decade with an entirely new set of characters.

About Stranger Things Finale

Stranger Things finale is now streaming on Netflix. Hawkins gang has launched their final stand against Vecna and the Mind Flayer. Earlier, Duffer Brothers had noted, "The only way to defeat Vecna and the Mind Flayer is if everyone contributes in some meaningful way … In that sense, it also feels very much like the climax of a Dungeons & Dragons campaign, where every character has a special skill and they’re able to bring it to this final fight."
