Several films released in the first half of 2023 achieved success at the box office, but their availability on OTT platforms was delayed. While most of these movies had their OTT rights announced, certain releases encountered difficulties in finding a platform for streaming.
Here is a list of some highly-anticipated movies that are being delayed again and again on OTT platforms:
Zara Hatke Zara Bachke
'Zara Hatke Zara Bachke' is currently receiving a lot of attention. The audience has been awaiting the release of ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke’ on OTT since the day it debuted in cinema. Despite the fact that digital platform Jio Cinema bagged the rights of Laxman Utekar’s film, it is yet not available on the streaming site.
OTT viewers are clamoring to find out when Jio Cinema will be so kind as to stream the movie. Jio Cinema, however, is unaffected. There is no news about when the movie will stream online, which makes the digital users impatient.
Agent
It is not hidden from anyone how Akhil Akkineni-starrer 'Agent' failed at the Box Office. The total collection of Akhil Akkineni's film now stands at around Rs 10 crore at the domestic box office, while the film was made on a massive budget of 70-80 crore. Despite being a failure, there is a lot of anticipation for 'Agent' as viewers wait for its OTT release.
The Akhil Akkineni-starrer movie was scheduled to make its digital debut on SonyLIV on June 23, 2023, but viewers were unable to locate the movie anywhere on the platform. This was not the first time 'Agent' has been delayed; before, the movie was supposed to have an OTT release on May 19, but it was postponed for unidentified reasons.
The Kerala Story
Starring Adah Sharma in the lead role, 'The Kerala Story' hit the theatres on May 5, 2023. The film came out to be one of the highest-grossing films of the year. After its great theatrical run, a lot of people were anticipating its OTT debut. However, a number of media outlets claim that the producers were unable to locate a dependable streaming partner, which led to the delay of the digital debut.Recently, 'The Kerala Story' producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah opened up about the film’s OTT release. He said, in a conversation with OTTplay, “The Kerala Story has been a very special film. It has broken a lot of industry norms. So as far as the OTT release is concerned, we are trying to do something which is out of the ordinary. Toh bas thoda sa aur waqt se dijiye, hum aapko kuch surprising news denge, aisa hume lag raha hai.”
Ramabanam
The movie was supposed to stream on June 3, 2023, but SonyLIV has not yet revealed the new OTT release date for Ramabanam. It stars an ensemble cast featuring Gopichand, Dimple Hayathi, Jagapathi Babu, Nassar, Vennela Kishore, Tarun Arora and Sachin Khedekar. It is produced by T. G. Vishwa Prasad and Vivek Kuchibhotla under People Media Factory. The soundtrack and background score were composed by Mickey J. Meyer.
Zwigato
It is rather sad and shocking that Kapil Sharma-starrer movie Zwigato is still not streaming anywhere on an Indian OTT platform despite all the overwhelming praise from the film community and cinephiles. The film premiered last year at the Toronto International Film Festival and later released in theatres in March 2023.
Choona
Choona was initially scheduled to begin streaming on the player on August 2, 2023, according to the website. Later, on August 3, it was anticipated. But on none of the days, it did not show up.
