The Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) has approved 25 major development projects worth around Rs 142 crore aimed at strengthening civic infrastructure across the city and adjoining rural areas. The approvals were granted during a meeting of the Finance and Contract Committee held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Mayor Rajrani Malhotra.
Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya, councillors Anup Singh and Sundar Singh, Chief Engineer Vijay Dhaka, Joint Commissioner Dr Naresh Kumar and other senior officials were present at the meeting. The committee granted administrative approval to projects focusing on sewerage, road construction and reconstruction, stormwater drainage, street lighting, drinking water supply and sanitation.
To address the issue of ageing and damaged sewer lines in densely populated localities, the committee approved the rehabilitation of 600-mm diameter sewer lines in areas including Ward-27, Civil Lines, Sadar Bazar and Jacobpura. In addition, stormwater drainage systems and disposal networks will be developed in waterlogging-prone areas such as Sector-9 and Sector-9A to provide relief during the monsoon.
Road infrastructure upgrades were also prioritised. Approval was given for the construction and re-carpeting of RMC roads in several areas, including Dhanwapur Road, Madanpuri, Sector-46, South City-1, Sector-15 Part-2 and Sector-18. The reconstruction of the Rajendra Park–Dhanwapur Chowk road is expected to benefit thousands of daily commuters.
The corporation also approved the expansion of basic civic amenities in villages and newly developed colonies under its jurisdiction. Sewer and drinking water pipelines, internal roads and drainage systems will be developed in Dhankot, Daulatabad, Dhumaspur, Maidawas and New Palam Vihar, extending urban-level facilities to these areas.
As part of efforts to modernise street lighting, CCMS panels will be installed to enable centralised monitoring and improve energy efficiency. Approval was also granted for the development and beautification of secondary waste collection points under the Swachh Bharat Mission.

Additionally, the committee cleared projects for the development of Atal Park and Atal Smriti Kendra in Dharampur village in memory of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Mayor Rajrani Malhotra said the MCG is committed to balanced and inclusive development, adding that the approved projects address essential civic needs and will significantly improve the quality of life for residents.
