The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has adopted a strict policy against improper sewerage management, warning that buildings found discharging untreated sewage directly into main drains or natural creeks will face demolition. This includes Paying Guest (PG) accommodations and other commercial establishments.
The decision was finalised during a Sewerage Management Cell (SMC) meeting held at the corporation office on Friday, presided over by Municipal Commissioner Pradeep Dahiya.
Commissioner Dahiya emphasied that no citizen or institution is permitted to release untreated sewage water from their building directly into natural creeks or master drains. He specifically noted that some PGs and commercial operations near natural creeks are currently violating this rule by discharging sewage directly into them. He stated unequivocally that such cases will not be tolerated, and demolition action will be taken against the offending buildings.
This measure aims to ensure a clean, pollution-free environment and protect the health of the city's residents. All citizens and institutions are urged to discharge sewage water only through proper, designated management systems.
Action Plan: Disconnection Within Six Months
The SMC meeting resolved that the discharge of untreated sewage into master drains and natural creeks must cease entirely. Key directives include:
Identification: A comprehensive list of all points in the city where sewage is being illegally discharged directly into master drains or creeks will be prepared.
Solution Plan: A permanent solution strategy will be formulated.
Disconnection Deadline: All identified illegal connections will be completely disconnected within the next six months.

Specific Drains Targeted: It was also explicitly decided to remove all untreated water discharge connections linked to the Leg-1, Leg-2, and Leg-3 drains.
Public Cooperation Encouraged
The Municipal Corporation appeals to citizens for their cooperation in stopping the discharge of untreated sewage. Residents are encouraged to report any such violations immediately to the Sewerage Management Cell (SMC).

Present at the meeting were Additional Municipal Commissioners Yash Jaluka and Ravindra Yadav, Chief Engineer Vijay Dhaka, along with engineers representing the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA), MCG, and the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (HSIIDC).
