Gurugram Municipal Corporation Headquarters Set To Open By 2026; Work Restarts

The new headquarters of the Municipal Corporation in Gurugram will now be built at a cost of Rs 184 crore. The cost, which was previously lower, has increased due to the construction of a state-of-the-art building.

Gurugram Municipal Corporation Headquarters Set To Open By 2026; Work Restarts
The new headquarters of the Municipal Corporation in Gurugram will now be built for Rs 184 crore.

After nearly a year-long delay, construction of the new headquarters of the Gurugram Municipal Corporation is set to resume. The government has approved an additional Rs 550 million, taking the total project cost from Rs 1.29 billion to Rs 1.84 billion.

In a meeting held in Chandigarh on Tuesday, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini gave the green light to the revised estimate, allowing the original agency to continue work. The agency is expected to restart construction on-site within this month.

The building’s structure up to 10 floors has already been completed, and internal and finishing work remains. Vijay Dhaka, Chief Engineer of the Municipal Corporation, confirmed the approval of the increased cost and stated that instructions have been given to complete the project within the set deadline.

The completed headquarters is scheduled to be operational by December 2026. Since its formation in 2008, the Municipal Corporation has been operating from a rented building in Sector-34. This new structure will serve as its first permanent, modern, and centralised office. The foundation stone for the project was laid on December 10, 2021, by then Chief Minister Manohar Lal.

-State-of-the-art 11-floor building with three basements

-Parking facility for 466 vehicles

-125-seat town hall for council meetings

-600-seat auditorium

-Library, ATM, and small shops

-Centralised services allowing citizens to access all corporation services under one roof

-Constructed according to GRIHA Five standards for sustainability

The new headquarters aims to provide a modern, efficient, and citizen-friendly environment for municipal operations in Gurugram.
