Haryana Students Enter Record Books: Over 11 Lakh Write ‘Thank You’ Letters To PM Modi To Promote Khadi

At a state-level event in Gurugram organised by the Haryana Khadi and Village Industries Board, 1.172 million letters from students to PM Modi promoting Khadi were entered into the India Book of Amazing Records. Dr Balpreet Singh described Khadi as a symbol of self-reliance and culture, and the event featured performances of Ganesh Vandana and Haryanvi dance.

Haryana Students Enter Record Books: Over 11 Lakh Write ‘Thank You’ Letters To PM Modi To Promote Khadi
Letters written to promote Khadi were included in the India Book of Amazing Records.

In a significant achievement for the state, a mass initiative to promote Khadi has earned a place in the India Book of Amazing Records. A total of 1,172,129 students from 3,610 government and private schools across Haryana wrote thank-you letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing gratitude for his efforts to popularise Khadi.

The feat was celebrated during a state-level programme organised by the Haryana Khadi and Village Industries Board at CR Model Public School, Sector-32.

Khadi As A Revolution

Dr Balpreet Singh, Chief Executive Officer of the Haryana Khadi and Village Industries Board, attended the event as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, Dr Singh emphasised the deeper significance of the fabric.

"Khadi is not just a cloth, but a revolution," Dr Singh stated. "It is a symbol of self-reliance, self-respect, and culture." He noted that this initiative has proven to be a milestone in connecting the new generation with the legacy of Khadi and has given Haryana a distinct identity on the national stage.

Event Highlights

The programme commenced with a traditional Ganesh Vandana, followed by a vibrant Haryanvi dance performance by the students, which captivated the audience. The proceedings were compered by Kuldeep Hindustani, the Swachhata (Cleanliness) Brand Ambassador for the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG).

  • Major General Dr Ranjit Singh (Retd), Chairman of the school's Education Committee.

  • Dr Narendra Singh Dabas, School Principal.
  • Priyanka Yadav and other local dignitaries.
