A case has been registered against a man from Haryana for attempting to gain unauthorised access to the Amarnath Yatra by using a fake registration card. The Jammu and Kashmir Police apprehended the accused at Baltal in Ganderbal district after discovering the forged identity used to bypass security checks.

The individual was identified as Shivam Mittal, a resident of Dwarka Puri, Haryana. According to a police spokesperson, "J&K Police have apprehended an individual at Baltal for using a fake yatra registration card to deceitfully gain access through security checkpoints."

Police said the man had acquired the forged registration card through fraudulent means and deliberately attempted to deceive security officials. "The individual had procured the forged yatra card through fraudulent means and attempted to mislead security personnel, thereby unlawfully bypassing the mandatory security verification process," the spokesperson added.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed under relevant legal provisions at Police Station Sonamarg, and a detailed investigation is currently underway.

Reiterating their stance, J&K Police said they remain committed to ensuring the safety and integrity of the Amarnath Yatra. "Strict legal action will be taken against anyone found indulging in such unlawful acts," the police stated.

The annual Amarnath Yatra is set to begin on July 3 from the traditional base camps of Baltal and Pahalgam, with elaborate security measures already in place.
