Jammu-Kashmir: The Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026 will remain suspended starting August 9 on both routes: the Chandanwari track in Anantnag and the Baltal track in Ganderbal.
The 57-day-long pilgrimage, scheduled to run from July 3 to August 28, has been suspended to allow authorities to carry out essential repair and maintenance work on vulnerable stretches of the tracks.

Why The Yatra Has Been Suspended?
Recent heavy rainfall: Downpour has damaged vulnerable stretches of the pilgrimage tracks.
Track restoration: Urgent repair and maintenance work is required on these stretches, which is being carried out by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
Adverse weather forecasts: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast adverse weather conditions over the coming days.
Pilgrim safety: Authorities announced the suspension to ensure the safety of pilgrims and allow restoration work to proceed smoothly.
Speaking to PTI, Kashmir Divisional Commissioner Anshul Garg said recent heavy rainfall has created the need for repair and maintenance of vulnerable stretches of the Yatra tracks, which is being carried out by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO).
He added that the IMD has forecast adverse weather over the coming days, prompting authorities to suspend the pilgrimage along both routes to ensure pilgrim safety and allow restoration work to proceed smoothly.
Chadi Mubarak To Proceed Via Pahalgam Route
Despite the suspension of the regular pilgrimage, the Chadi Mubarak procession will proceed via the traditional Pahalgam route and shall mark the pilgrimage's culmination on August 28.
The Divisional Commissioner has appealed to all devotees to follow advisories issued by the competent authorities from time to time, emphasising that these guidelines are aimed at ensuring their safety and the smooth conduct of the Yatra.
