Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal met with the Election Commission on Monday to raise concerns about alleged attempts to influence voters in Kidwai Nagar, New Delhi. He accused certain politicians of distributing goods such as blankets, shoes, jackets and even money in the area to sway voters.
Kejriwal claimed that these distributions were occurring despite reports from the local District Magistrate stating that no such activities were taking place. "Yesterday, blankets, shoes, jackets, money and spectacles were distributed in Kidwai Nagar. The local DM's report says nothing is happening. This suggests that the local DM may be involved," he stated, calling for the suspension of the DM to prevent further misconduct.
He added that the Election Commission had assured him that they would take action to halt these activities. "We are very grateful to the Election Commission for their prompt response," Kejriwal said.
Earlier this month, Kejriwal had accused his rival, BJP candidate Parvesh Verma, of distributing money to voters and urged the commission to disqualify Verma from the elections.
Kejriwal is competing against Parvesh Verma of the BJP and Sandeep Dikshit from the Congress party in the upcoming Delhi assembly elections.

In addition to addressing the issue of voter influence, Kejriwal discussed the voter registration of AAP candidate Awadh Ojha. He confirmed that the Election Commission has ordered that Ojha’s vote be shifted, enabling him to cast his vote and file his nomination.
Kejriwal was accompanied by Delhi CM Atishi, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh and Raghav Chadha during this meeting. The Delhi assembly elections are set to take place in a single phase on February 5, with vote counting scheduled for February 8
