What Is Delhi Excise Policy Case?

The liquor policy introduced by the AAP government in 2021 aimed to make large-scale changes in the excise sector, including letting private companies run liquor stores and changing licensing rules. But there were accusations of corruption and favouritism, prompting the AAP-led state government to retract it.

The Delhi Lieutenant Governor had then asked the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to look into claims of corruption and procedural irregularities. This led to Deputy CM Manish Sisodia getting arrested. Later, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested him in a money-laundering case.
