Key Candidates' Results: The D-Day has arrived as the Election Commission of India began the vote counting process. In the next few hours, it will be clear who people voted for to rule in four states - West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Keralam (Kerala) and Assam and one UT - Puducherry. All eyes are on key candidates from the BJP, Congress, TMC, DMK, AIADMK, TVK, CPI-M, AINRC, and other prominent parties in these states.

Who are the key candidates?

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, her Assam counterpart Himanta Biswawarma, Keralam CM Pinarayi Vijayan, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, Puducherry CM N Rangasamy, actor-turned politician Vijay, Suvendu Adhikari, Udhayanidhi Stalin, Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS), VD Satheesan and others are the key candidates, whose victory or defeat will shape their respective states' political landscape.

Here Are The Results Of Prominent Leaders:

1. Mamata Banerjee: The high-voltage Bhabanipur contest turned on its head on Monday, with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee slipping behind BJP's Suvendu Adhikari after sharp swings, capping a steady erosion of her early lead in one of the state's most closely watched battles.

After 18 rounds of counting, Banerjee was trailing by 11,003 votes, according to an official. The EC website, however, shows the trailing margin at 10,994, with the Trinamool Congress supremo polling 56,245 votes against Adhikari's 67239.

Two more rounds will be counted in the 20-round process.

2. MK Stalin: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin was defeated by TVK candidate VS Babu by a margin of 8,795 votes in the Kolathur Assembly constituency on Monday. Babu got 82,997 votes and Stalin received 74,202 votes, according to the Election Commission.

3. Pinarayi Vijayan:  Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan won from the Dharmadom constituency even as the LDF suffered a severe setback in the Kerala Assembly elections. Vijayan, who had trailed in Dharmadom until the sixth round of counting, secured victory by a margin of 19,247 votes over Congress candidate V P Abdul Rasheed, who put up a tough fight and polled 66,367 votes against Vijayan's 85,614.

Vijayan, the face of the LDF in the Assembly election, has won from Dharmadom for the third consecutive time.

4. Suvendu Adhikari: BJP's prominent face in Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari, is in the race in the Nandigram and Bhabanipur seats. Adhikari is contesting against Mamata Banerjee on the Bhabanipur seat. As per the trends, Suvendu Adhikari has won Nandigram against TMC's Pabitra Kar by a margin of over 9,000 votes. In Bhabanipur, Suvendu Adhikari is leading with a huge margin.  

5. Udhayanidhi Stalin: DMK leader and son of Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, Udhayanidhi Stalin is contesting from the Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni seat in Tamil Nadu. After the final rounds of counting, Udhayanidhi Stalin registtered victory against TVK's Selvam D by a margin of over 7,140 votes.

6. N Rangasamy: AINRC leader and CM N Rangasamy is contesting from the Thattanchavady seat in Puducherry. As per the latest trends, Rangasamy wins the polls.

7. Edappadi K. Palaniswami: AIADMK chief K Palaniswami on Monday won by a record margin of 98,110 votes from Edappadi assembly constituency in the district. The former chief minister defeated his nearest rival, an independent candidate Premkumar K, by securing 1,48,933 votes. This is Palaniswami's sixth big win from the constituency in Salem district since the 1989 Assembly elections.

8. VD Satheesan: Congress leader VD Satheesan is contesting from the Paravur seat in Keralam. He is currently leading against CPI(M) candidate Taison Master.

9. Dilip Ghosh: BJP leader Dilip Ghosh is in the race in Kharagpur Sadar in West Bengal. He is currently leading against TMC's Pradip Sarkar with over 30,000 votes.

10. Vijay: TVK chief Vijay on Monday won from Perambur constituency by defeating his DMK rival R D Shekar in the Assembly elections held on April 23.

11. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury: Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury is contesting from the Baharampur seat in West Bengal. As per the latest trends, he lost elections to BJP's Subrata Maitra

12. Himanta Biswa Sarma: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is contesting from his traditional stronghold of Jalukbari constituency. As per the latest announcement, Sarma registered a victory with a huge margin of 89,434 votes against Congress candidate Bidisha Neog.

13. Gaurav Gogoi: Assam Congress chief, Gaurav Gogoi, is contesting from the Jorhat seat, marking his debut in the Assembly polls. As per latest update, he lost by a margin of 23,182
