Bengal Polls: With just a few days remaining in the West Bengal Assembly polls, all the leading parties have intensified their campaigns. While the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) is contesting to retain the government, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will try to form its government for the first time. The TMC has been in power for the past 15 years, mainly due to the support from the lower sections of society and women. Mamata Banerjee has launched several beneficiary schemes for the people across ages, benefiting the party significantly.

Major Schemes Of TMC:

- Lakshmir Bhandar: While it provides monthly financial assistance of Rs 1,500 for women (between the ages of 25 and 60) in the general and OBC categories, it provides Rs 1,700 to the women belonging to the SC/ST community

- West Bengal Student Credit Card Scheme: Students get loans up to Rs 10 lakh in colleges and universities

- Rupashree Prakalpa: The economically stressed families get Rs 25,000 to assist with the marriage purposes of their daughters

- Bhabishyat credit card: The government provides loans up to Rs 5 lakh to the young entrepreneurs

- Yogyashree: The scheme offers free coaching to the students belonging to the economically weaker sections for the competitive examinations like JEE, WBJEE, and NEET

- Samabyathi: The Mamata Banerjee government provides Rs 2,000 for cremation and burial expenses

- Duare Sarkar: The state government launched an initiative that organizes camps in the rural regions to deliver government services

- Bangla Sahayata Kendra (BSK): The Mamata Banerjee government has established thousands of centers in several regions of the state to provide services and information

The voting for the Bengal assembly election will be conducted in two phases on April 23 and 29, and the results will be announced on May 4.
