The Supreme Court on Thursday allowed the Muslim side to offer Friday Namaz at the parcel of land stated to be Dargah land adjacent to the disputed Bhojshala complex at Dhar in Madhya Pradesh, clarifying its earlier order.

Clarifying its July 14, 2026 order, the apex court said, "The Muslim community be permitted to offer Namaz on Friday from 1 pm to 3 pm at the land Khasra No. 596, which is stated to be Dargah land."

The top court also directed the Madhya Pradesh government to make the necessary arrangements in compliance with its order. An order was given by a bench comprising Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant, justices Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohana. The bench, however, said that the instant direction does not preclude the state government and the Muslim side from exploring another site for Friday prayers with mutual consent.

The order was passed while the top court was hearing an application filed by the Muslim side seeking allocation of an adjacent space for offering prayers.

Notably, on July 14, the top court bench had ordered that a separate open space be provided adjacent to the disputed site in Dhar for Friday prayers between 1 and 3 pm till the case is decided.

However, the Muslim side led by Haji Muneer Ahmad again moved the top court alleging non-compliance with its directions to provide an alternative site. The plea stated that the Dhar administration was providing the place which was 1.3 km away from the disputed Bhojshala complex.

In their plea, the Muslim side argued that the existing interim arrangement requires devotees to offer Friday Namaz at a site around one kilometre away from the disputed complex.

In its order today, the Supreme Court highlighted that the site plan of the land Khasra No 596, produced before it, showed that it has an independent and separate access road and "therefore the said site appears to be suitable. It is adjacent to the subject premises."
