Bihar remains sweltering as numerous districts continue to experience temperatures higher than normal for the last 24 hours. However, citizens might soon get a breather as the India Meteorological Department has predicted thunderstorms, gusty winds, and scattered rains in the state in the upcoming days.
In an update, the IMD has warned of thunderstorm activity with speeds varying between 50-60 kmph across parts of the state on June 6, and thunderstorms accompanied by rain are expected in Patna, Vaishali, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Buxar, Siwan, Saran, Bhojpur, Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Purnia, Katihar, Araria, Munger, Khagaria, Bhagalpur and Begusarai.
The state has witnessed abnormal summer temperatures with maximum temperature recording around 38 degrees Celsius to 44 degrees Celsius in several parts, being 1.6-3.0 degrees Celsius above normal. With comfortable night temperatures failing to offer respite, the state's nights are turning humid.
The IMD has again warned of thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds at isolated places across parts of the state on June 7 and 8, with wind speed reaching up to 40-50 kmph, hence advising safety in open spaces and during any outdoor activity.

Rain is likely till June 11
Scattered rain is expected to continue across parts of Bihar until June 11, while rain is likely to gain pace and be spread across most of the parts with increased precipitation being witnessed on June 9, with thunderstorms occurring in the districts and helping to bring down the heat.
The forecast has been issued considering the northward movement of monsoon winds over parts of the country, while various states of the country continue to grapple with scorching summer heat.
