Bengaluru Namma Metro Update: In an attempt to boost Bengaluru's infrastructure, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday proposed to extend Namma Metro to Devanahalli. He stated that currently Namma Metro serves almost 8.5 lakh commuters on a daily basis and operates on 68 metro stations across 79.65 km. Siddaramaiah further said that the government intends to expand the network by another 98.60 km over the next two years.

He emphasised that the metro will be extended to Devanahalli, adding that it will provide convenience to the people residing in these areas. He also affirmed that the project will also give a major boost to the infrastructure of Silicon City. Apart from this, the extension of the metro beyond Kempegowda International Airport to Devanahalli will also significantly boost the real estate business in this area.

The trend suggests that the real estate of any particular area gets a boost if there is availability of public transport in the region. While the metro is being extended to Devanahalli, the realtors expressed their excitement as more of the residents will opt to reside in this area. Metro lines are being constructed from KR Puram to the airport under Phase 2B. However, Siddaramaiah clarified that the Namma metro will be extended further.

“With seamless metro connectivity, commuting from Devanahalli to key hubs in Bengaluru will become much easier,” one of the realtors was quoted as saying by Bangalore Mirror. “Right now, the area relies on road networks, which are often congested. Once operational, travel time will reduce drastically, making Devanahalli a more attractive residential and commercial destination,” he added.

The realtors stated that metro connectivity gave a boost to the real estate market in several areas, including Whitefield and Yelahanka. The experts suggested that Devanahalli will witness similar growth due to its proximity to the international airport, adding that the developers anticipate higher demand for commercial purposes.
