Ahead of the 18th BRICS Leaders' Summit, the Centre has announced that all Central Government offices, its autonomous bodies and public sector undertakings in Delhi and New Delhi will remain closed on Friday, September 11, 2026. The Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions issued an official memorandum on Thursday, September 3, confirming the decision.
The ministry said the closure was done considering the immense logistical and security arrangements needed for the BRICS Summit while also considering minimising public inconvenience.
"The Lieutenant General of the NCT of Delhi is pleased to declare September 11 (Friday) to be a holiday in all government offices, autonomous bodies and public sector undertakings under the Delhi government in view of the BRICS Summit and management connected therewith," said the order issued by the General Administration Department.
