Bypolls Result 2023 Highlights Apna Dal's Rinki Kol Wins Chhanbey Seat, AAP Sweeps Jalandhar


BJP ally Apna Dal (S) candidate Rinki Kol won the Chhanbey constituency with a margin of 9,587 votes by defeating Samajwadi Party candidate Kirti Kol. The constituency of Chhanbey falls under the Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh. Rinki Kol received as many as 76,176 votes while Kirti Kol of Samajwadi Party received 66,587 votes, according to the Election Commission website.
According to the official website of Election Commission, Apna Dal's Rinki Kol is leading with 65,989 votes while Kirti Kol of the Samajwadi Party is trailing with 57,779 votes.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate Sushil Kumar Rinku won the seat by a margin of over 58,000 votes against Congress candidate Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary.
Biju Janata Dal candidate and daughter of slain Odisha minister Naba Kishore Das, Dipali Das dedicates her victory to the people who were associated with his father.
"This is a victory of the people of Jharsuguda, of those who loved my father, of the Chief Minister, of the people and BJD and of everyone associated with my father. This is a victory of Naba Das..," Dipali was quoted by ANI.
Biju Janata Dal (BJD) candidate Dipali Das won the Jharsuguda assembly poll by defeating her rival Tankadhar Tripathy of the BJP, by over 48,000 votes. The counting of votes was held on Saturday.
United Democratic Party (UDP) candidate Synshar Lyngdoh Thabah has won the seat with 16,679 votes. While, Samling Malngiang of the NPP received more than 13,200 votes, as reported by PTI.
"UDP candidate Synshar Kupar Roy Lyngdoh has won by 3,422 votes against Samlin Malngiang of the National Peoples' Party," Chief Electoral Officer F R Kharkongor told PTI.
Apna Dal's Shafiq Ahmed Ansari wins Suar seat in Uttar Pradesh by a margin of 8,824 votes.
The counting of votes in the by-election to the Jharsuguda assembly seat in Odisha is ongoing. Early trends show that Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Dipali Das is leading.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) took a huge lead over its rival parties Congress, BJP, and SAD in the Jalandhar by-election result and took a lead by a margin of 50,003 votes.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is leading in Jalandhar with a margin of 32,848 votes according to the Election Commission website. The AAP has fielded former MLA Sushil Rinku who left the Congress to join the ruling AAP while the Congress has expressed confidence in Karamjit Kaur, the wife of Santokh Chaudhary.

The counting of votes for Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat, and four Assembly seats in Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and Meghalaya begins at 8 am on Saturday.
Jharsuguda district collector Aboli Sunil Naravane and superintendent of police Parmar Smit Parshottamdas on Saturday said that arrangements have been made for smooth conduct of counting and maintenance of law and order in the state.
The counting of votes for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat and 4 assembly seats across Uttar Pradesh, Odisha and Meghalaya is set to begin at 8 am.
Nine candidates are in the fray, the contest is mainly between the BJD, BJP and Congress. The BJD has fielded Das's daughter Deepali Das, while the BJP has nominated Tankadhar Tripathy. The Congress has fielded Tarun Pandey, the son of late MLA Biren Pandey. All the three candidates are debutant contestants.
The Suar constituency was declared vacant on February 13 after a Moradabad court gave a two-year prison sentence to Abdullah Azam, son of veteran SP leader Azam Khan in a case of assaulting a public servant in 2008. While, the Chhanbey seat in Mirzapur fell vacant after the death of Apna Dal (Sonelal) MLA Rahul Prakash Kol in February.
The overall turnout was recorded at 91.56 per cent in Sohiong assembly constituency till 5 pm. The bye-election on this seat was necessitated following the death of UDP candidate HDR Lyngdoh ahead of the assembly elections held in the rest of the state on February 27.
The Jharsuguda assembly constituency in Odisha witnessed 68.12 per cent of voter turnout till 5 pm. The bye-election on this seat was necessitated following the murder of sitting MLA and the then Health Minister Naba Kishore Das on January 29.
The overall voter turnout was recorded at 41.78 per cent in the Suar assembly constituency while 39.51 per cent in the Chhanbey constituency till 5 pm.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has fielded former MLA Sushil Rinku who left the Congress to join the Punjab's ruling party while the Congress has shown confidence in Karamjit Kaur, the wife of Santokh Chaudhary.
The BJP has fielded Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal, who quit the Shiromani Akali Dal to join the saffron party while the SAD has fielded Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi, who is a doctor from the Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat.
