Chhattisgarh Rape: A 19-year-old woman was allegedly raped by five men, including the driver of Dial 112, the emergency response unit of Chhattisgarh Police. The incident took place in the Bankimongra area on Thursday, January 8 night. The police so far managed to arrest two of the five accused, including the driver of the emergency response services, on Saturday, January 10. The police have sent special teams to search for the remaining three accused, said Korba Superintendent of Police (SP) Siddharth Tiwari.

 

Chhattisgarh Rape: What We Know So Far

  • According to police, one of the accused was known to the survivor and allegedly lured her out of her home before taking her to a secluded location.

  • The other four accused, including the Dial-112 driver, were reportedly present at the spot.

  • All five men allegedly took turns to assault the survivor before fleeing, leaving her unconscious.

  • After regaining consciousness, the woman managed to return home and informed her family about the incident.

  • Her family rushed her to a medical college hospital, where she is undergoing treatment and counselling, and later lodged a complaint at the local police station.

  • An initial zero FIR was registered at the Civil Lines police station, which was later transferred to the Bankimongra police station for further investigation.

  • Korba SP Siddharth Tiwari said the three absconding accused would be arrested soon.

  • Forensic teams have examined the crime scene, and police are recording statements from witnesses and the survivor’s family.

  • Authorities have assured that the strictest legal action will be taken once all five accused are taken into custody.

  • Bankimongra police have intensified efforts to trace the remaining suspects and are conducting raids at multiple locations. Officials said further arrests are expected in the coming days.
