As the Cockroach Janata Party protest turned violent on Monday, the security agencies intensified their probe into examining Pakistan links, social media activities, and how it gained thousands of followers within a few days. The Delhi police stated on Monday that many of the individuals detained during the protest were not students.
Agencies Investigate Social Media Handles
The officials are examining suspicious social media handles that allegedly spread misinformation, while some allegedly have Pakistani links. The suspicious social media handles claim that seven were killed and 391 suffered injuries, while 250 people were arrested during the protest. Cops are now investigating the accuracy of these claims.

Campaign Extended on Instagram and X
As per the investigating agencies, the campaign gained traction on Instagram and X. CJP's Instagram account gained over 20 million followers within a few days. Officials said such an increase in the followers was unusual and suspicious.
IP Addresses and Digital Networks Traced
Officials are also examining social media handles and IP addresses from which this campaign was allegedly being conducted. Last month, the CJP's official X handle was blocked on the orders of the central government. Within minutes, a new ID was created called "Cockroach is Back," and its Instagram following rapidly increased.
Officials suspect that the individuals behind the campaign may have utilised AI bots to artificially inflate their follower count in a very short time frame.

Is CJP Receiving Foreign Funding?
Security agencies are investigating whether the CJP Party receives any foreign funding or not. They are investigating whether this digital campaign received funding or logistical support from abroad. The investigation is also examining patterns related to student movements in Bangladesh and Nepal.

Connections With Op Parties, Student Organisations?
The security agencies are examining the possibilities of whether the Gen-Z-led CJP has any connections with opposing parties and student organisations. The participation of many opposition parties, including Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, and Samajwadi Party, was revealed in the protest that started at Jantar Mantar on June 20, demanding reforms in the NEET paper leak and education system.
