CJP Protest: Amid the ongoing student protest at the Jantar Mantar, the Cockroach Janata Party's spokesperson Saurav Das on Wednesday stated that further talks with the government will be held at the "people's court", referring to Jantar Mantar. While talking to the media, Das stated that the centre had approached them for another round of meeting at Health Minister JP Nadda's residence; however, they insisted on holding the talks at the protesting site.
'Ministers Should Come Among People'
Das claimed that the CJP was invited for a meeting at Nadda's residence, but the campaign "flatly" refused, further asking the ministers to visit the "people's court" for further discussions. "He invited us to his house again. We flatly refused. The people's court is held here; ministers should come among the people," Das was quoted as saying by the news agency ANI.
"However, being educated people, we thought if there are security concerns, we could meet at some neutral place near Jantar Mantar. We are yet to hear from them on that," he added. The CJP spokesperson further emphasised that the youth agitation will not stop until their demands are met, including Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation, compensation for the family of the students who died due to the paper leak and no FIRs against the peaceful protesters.
What Are The Demands?
"First, the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. Second, 1 crore rupees compensation for the families of all those students who committed suicide due to the NEET paper leak. Third, all FIRs filed unnecessarily against peaceful protesters should be withdrawn, and we want a sovereign guarantee from the government that no such FIRs will be filed against any peaceful protester in relation to this protest in the future," Das asserted.
Earlier on Monday, Das, along with Ashutosh, another spokesperson of the CJP, held a meeting with Nadda at his residence and submitted a letter of their demands to the minister. However, they further stated that the government did not give any assurance of Pradhan's resignation, adding that further talks will be conducted at the Jantar Mantar.
