CJP Protest: Amid the ongoing nationwide students protest against the paper leaks, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has fact checked AI-generated videos of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Piyush Goyal. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the fact check unit of PIB stated that the videos are fake, adding that they have been propagated to spread fake news amid the ongoing demonstrations.
'Fake Videos Were Circulated'
These viral fake videos showed the prime minister and commerce minister asking the students to stop their protests and issued threat to them. However, the fact check unit of the PIB clarified that these videos were doctored to create chaos within the country. It further stated that such videos are being generated and spread by the Pakistani propaganda networks to spread misinformation in India.
"Pakistani propaganda accounts are circulating a video of Prime Minister featuring fabricated statements that he never made regarding the protest in Delhi," the fact check unit said in its post. It further clarified that the videos were circulated to mislead the public, further requesting the netizens to report such suspicious videos.

PM Did Not Make Such Statement: PIB
"This is an AI-generated deepfake video' shared to mislead the public. Prime Minister Narendra Modi did NOT make any such statement. Stay alert and report suspicious content related to the Government of India to PIB," it added. The miscreants had doctored the video shared by PM Modi on Thursday in which he addressed the students. They also altered the public statement of Goyal that he gave outside the parliament.
Earlier in a video message on Thursday, the prime minister assured that the government is thoughtful of the students and that necessary actions are being taken. He further stated that strict laws are being made and a bill will be passed in the parliament soon to ensure tougher punishments for those involved in paper leaks.
