The dense fog condition and subsequent low visibility have affected flight operations across North India, with Delhi Airport facing 73 flight delays and one cancellation at 11 AM, according to the data from Flightradar24.
SpiceJet spokesperson stated that flight SG8193, scheduled to operate from Delhi to Ahmedabad, was cancelled due to bad weather (low visibility) in Delhi. The airline has given passengers the option of a full refund or moving to the next available flight.
Due to inclement weather conditions, the airlines have issued advisories for passengers regarding potential delays. In its advisory, Air India said that the weather department has predicted dense fog in Delhi and parts of northern and eastern India on Friday, and hence flight schedules could be hit.
In their travel advisory on Thursday night, they added that the dense fog may have cascading effects across the flight network.
IndiGo has also issued a similar advisory early on Friday, saying, "Customers travelling in the early hours may experience delays or revised timings."
The airline added that it is actively monitoring weather conditions and coordinating with air traffic authorities to minimise passenger inconvenience.

SpiceJet, in its advisory, stated that the flight operations, all departures/arrivals, and their consequential flights, may be affected due to low visibility in Delhi.
Delhi Airport warns of potential delays
As the flight operations suffer at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, the Delhi airport on Friday said that dense fog is impacting flight schedule and operations are currently under CAT III.
"Our on-ground teams are working in close coordination with all stakeholders to assist passengers and provide necessary support across all terminals. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused and appreciate your understanding," DIAL added.
Temperature dips across North India
The intensified winter across north India is attributed to the activation of two western disturbances. Delhi on Thursday witnessed the coldest day of the season with the maximum temperature settling at 20.1 degrees Celsius and the minimum dipping to 9 degrees Celsius.
