Delhi Fire Incidents: Fire-related incidents in Delhi are becoming increasingly severe, with fatalities from such accidents rising at an alarming rate each year. According to data from the Delhi Fire Services Department, 346 people have lost their lives due to burn injuries in fire accidents across the national capital over the past four years alone.

These growing numbers have raised serious concerns over the city’s fire safety infrastructure, enforcement of safety regulations, and public awareness.

At the same time, the prompt response and active intervention of the fire department have helped save 2,747 lives during this period. Firefighters have continued to play a critical role in controlling blazes and rescuing residents trapped in dangerous situations.

Major Fire Tragedies in Delhi

1. March 18, 2026 - Palam Fire Tragedy

A devastating fire in Delhi’s Palam area claimed the lives of nine members of a single family, including women and three young girls.

2. February 15, 2024 - Alipur Paint Factory Fire

A massive blaze at a paint factory in Alipur killed 11 people, while several others were seriously injured.

3. May 25, 2024 - Vivek Vihar Baby Care Newborn Hospital Fire

Seven newborn babies died in a horrific fire at a baby care hospital in Vivek Vihar. The blaze was allegedly triggered by an oxygen cylinder explosion.

4. May 13, 2022 - Mundka Commercial Building Fire

A four-storey commercial building near Metro Pillar No. 544 in Mundka caught fire due to a short circuit, killing 27 people.

5. February 12, 2019 - Arpit Palace Hotel Fire, Karol Bagh

A major hotel fire in Karol Bagh resulted in 17 deaths, including one child.

6. December 8, 2019 - Anaj Mandi Fire, Rani Jhansi Road

A deadly fire in a multi-storey building in Delhi’s Anaj Mandi area killed 43 people, most of them workers sleeping inside.

7. January 20, 2018 - Bawana Industrial Area Fire

A fire at a firecracker and plastic manufacturing unit led to 17 deaths.

Four members of the same family died after a severe fire broke out in their residence.

9. November 19, 2018 - Karol Bagh Factory Fire

A factory fire in Karol Bagh killed four people and injured another.

10. November 20, 2011 - Nand Nagri Community Hall Fire

Fourteen people were killed and over 30 injured in a devastating blaze.
