With traffic expected to rise across Delhi, Ghaziabad and nearby areas during Raksha Bandhan, traffic police have announced route diversions to prevent congestion on key roads and around busy markets.

As part of the traffic plan, heavy vehicles will be barred from National Highway-9 from 8 am on August 26 until midnight on August 28.

Which Routes Can General Vehicles Use?

For vehicles heading from Ghaziabad and Delhi towards Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly, and Lucknow, normal traffic will be allowed on NH-9 and DME, says DCP Traffic Triguna Bisen.

In the reverse direction, vehicles coming from these locations towards Ghaziabad and Delhi would also be allowed via DME and NH-9.

Alternative Routes For Heavy Vehicles

A separate traffic plan has been formulated for heavy vehicles. Heavy vehicles from Delhi and Ghaziabad heading towards Amroha, Moradabad, Rampur, Bareilly and Lucknow shall have to pass through Delhi-Meerut Expressway or Eastern Peripheral Expressway.

Similarly, heavy vehicles heading toward Delhi and Ghaziabad will also pass through a similar route. Heavy goods vehicles will not be permitted on the NH-9 during the given restriction time.
