Rs 1,000 To Spend, Rs 1,500 To Save: How The Rs 2,500 Monthly Scheme Will Work

The government is developing a model for its proposed scheme that will restrict beneficiaries from withdrawing the full monthly payout at once, according to a Jagran.com report citing sources. Eligible women will receive Rs 2,500 monthly, with Rs 1,000 available for immediate withdrawal and the remaining Rs 1,500 held in a secure deposit box.

A monthly deposit of Rs 1,500 over three years builds a Rs 54,000 principal. With interest, beneficiaries are expected to receive a lump sum of approximately Rs 58,000 to Rs 60,000, depending on interest rates and scheme guidelines.

Officials stated that this model ensures women build a secure savings fund for the future while receiving regular financial aid.

When Will The Scheme Be Implemented?

According to a report by Jagran.com, the Delhi government is preparing to roll out the scheme on August 28, with departmental procedures currently being finalised to ensure a timely launch. Detailed guidelines regarding eligibility criteria, disbursement procedures, withdrawal conditions, and savings management are expected to be issued soon.

Budget Allocation

The Delhi government has allocated Rs 5,110 crore for the scheme in the current fiscal year's budget. Official sources say the budget is expected to increase given the number of beneficiaries.

The relevant departments are working to identify beneficiaries, verify eligibility, and finalise payment arrangements so that funds can be transferred to eligible women's accounts as soon as the scheme is implemented.
