Delhi-Meerut Expressway: In a major update for the commuters, the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has proposed a hike in the toll rate on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. The officials stated that the toll prices have been increased by 5 per cent on average, adding that the changes will come into effect from April 1. They further stated that the toll will only be collected through FasTag or UPI mode. The expressway has cut the travel time between the two key cities and is utilised by thousands of commuters on a daily basis.
While providing details, the officials stated that new rates will vary on the make of the vehicles, advising the commuters to check the new rates. "As per the new rates, which vary based on the make of the vehicles, from Sarai Kale Khan to Meerut, which is about 82 km, the new rates for one-way commuting for light vehicles-including cars, jeeps, vans or light motor vehicles-will be Rs 175, which was Rs 170," an NHAI official was quoted as saying by the Times of India.

"The rates for a return journey will be Rs 265 and increase by Rs 10," the official added. They further stated that the new rates for light vehicles from Indirapuram to Meerut will increase by Rs 5, adding that the heavy vehicles will be charged more. "From Indirapuram to Meerut, the new rates for light vehicles will be Rs 120, up by Rs 5, and the return journey will now be Rs 189 from Rs 175," one of the officials was quoted as saying by TOI.

"Likewise, rates have been hiked for other kinds of vehicles, which include buses or trucks (two axles), MAV/three-axle vehicles, MAV 4-6 axle and oversized vehicles (seven or more axles)," the official added. The expressway connects several key regions and can be accessed at several regions, including Sarai Kale Khan, Indirapuram, Dundahera, Dasna, Rasoolpur Sikrod, Bhojpur, and Kashi toll plaza.
