Delhi Police Crime Branch has seized more than one lakh fake sachets of ENO and 50,000 fake Nescafe coffee sachets during their major operation against large-scale counterfeit manufacturing at Madhu Vihar. Four accused persons have been arrested, and two illegal manufacturing units were also dismantled during the operation, police stated in a social media post.

The operation, with the participation of the cyber cell of the Crime Branch and by the Southern Range of the Crime Branch, includes seizure of filling machines, raw materials and large amounts of packaging materials that were used to reproduce branded products.

The investigators claim that the working of the operation was on a very large scale concerning fake goods and would probably be marketed locally, as there was evidence of extensive use of both ENO and Nescafe products in Delhi, thus posing a huge threat to consumer health by consuming counterfeit food or healthcare products regularly.

The crime cell reported that this operation was spearheaded by Inspector Manjeet Kumar and Inspector Pradeep Singh, under the supervision of ACP Swagat Patil Rajkumar, while overall monitoring was done by the DCP Rahool Alwal. They are also currently working on a thorough investigation of the greater supply chain and distribution network linked to this counterfeit operation.

The public response to this situation was enormous, and many raised awareness about the increasing problem of counterfeit items for consumers, while some have praised the police for taking action against the networks associated with fake medicine and food.

Police have encouraged consumers to be aware of where they are buying food and drink products by being diligent about checking the packaging before buying products from reliable sources and assisting legitimate retailers through awareness of this issue.
