Sharjeet Imam, an accused in the 2020 Delhi riots case, walked out of jail on Friday after nearly six years, after a Delhi Court granted him interim bail for 10 days. The Delhi Court granted Imam an interim bail from March 20 to March 30 to attend his brother's wedding and meet his ailing mother.
A video shows Sharjeel Imam walking out of Gate Number 3 of Delhi's Tihar Jail on Friday before being escorted to a car. He can be seen smiling and flashing a victory sign. However, Imam did not respond to questions and quickly got into the car, leaving the jail premises.
Imam Gets Interim Bail To Attend His Brother's Wedding
The Karkardooma Court in Delhi on March 9 granted Sharjeel Imam interim bail for 10 days to attend his brother's wedding and take care of his ailing mother. According to a Jagran.com report, the wedding is scheduled for March 25. Imam had sought a six-week reprieve from the court. However, the court granted him interim bail from March 20 to March 30.

Imam Gets Interim Bail With THESE Conditions
The Delhi Court has imposed certain conditions on the interim bail granted to Imam.
- Sharjeel Imam cannot contact any witness or person connected to the case.
- He must provide his mobile number to the investigating officer.
- Only family members and close relatives are allowed to meet him.
- He is restricted from using social media during the bail period.
- He must surrender again to jail by the evening of March 30.
2020 Delhi Riots Case
Sharjeel Imam is accused of allegedly playing a role in orchestrating the protests and road blockades and of mobilising people by visiting various locations. According to the police, Imam has been linked to activities in cities outside Delhi. The 2020 Delhi riots left 53 people dead and hundreds injured.
