Delhi Traffic Alert For Holi: Ahead of Holi celebrations on March 4, the Delhi Traffic Police will station personnel at approximately 134 major intersections across the city to enforce strict measures against drunken driving. The police have also outlined the possibility of suspending driving licences for a minimum of three months in cases of serious violations, according to an official announcement made on Tuesday.
A comprehensive traffic advisory has been issued, with the police revealing that special checking teams will be positioned at key junctions and high-risk areas to tackle offences such as drunken driving, speeding, reckless and zig-zag driving, red-light jumping, triple riding, riding without helmets, and performing stunts on two-wheelers.
According to the directions of the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety, in cases of drunken driving, red-light jumping, using a mobile phone while driving, dangerous driving, and speeding, the driving licence of the offender will be seized and may be suspended for at least three months.
Action will also be taken against registered owners if their vehicles are found to be driven by minors or unauthorised persons.
Strict action will be taken against those driving without helmets, driving on the wrong side, or indulging in dangerous driving.
In addition, PCR vans and local police teams will support traffic officers in maintaining enforcement across the city.
Additionally, the Delhi Police has warned that violations highlighted on social media will not be ignored. "If we see any violation on social media that has been uploaded by someone, we will take action on it and we continuously monitor it," said Dinesh Gupta, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic).
The Traffic Police has urged commuters to follow rules and cooperate with enforcement teams to ensure a safe and incident-free Holi.
