The father of Tarun Kumar, a 26-year-old man who died in a clash on Holi in Delhi's Uttam Nagar area, has raised questions about the investigation being done by the Delhi Police and has demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter.

While speaking to news agency ANI, he alleged that police have claimed 5-6 arrests in the case, but have not shown who they arrested. He said, "We demand that our son get justice. The police have not conducted any inquiry or asked us about him. They are saying that they have arrested 5-6 people. They did not show us who they have arrested. We want a CBI inquiry. We even went to the police station yesterday, but they closed the doors. When we went to the streets to hold a protest, they resorted to a lathi charge."

Tarun's father allege police negligence

He alleged that 15-20 people, who attacked and killed his son, were roaming on the spot, but the police did not arrest anyone.

According to Kumar's family, on March 4, the fight broke out after a 6-year-old girl was throwing water balloons from her terrace and one of them hit a woman from the Muslim community. The incident turned into an argument and then a fight between the families in the area.

Kumar's father alleged that the matter escalated, even after apologising, the agitated woman called her family members.

Tarun was outside, so attacked

While talking to news agency PTI, he said, "Soon, 15–20 people arrived with sticks and rods and started attacking us. We ran inside the house, but they locked the door from the outside. Several family members were injured."

But his 26-year-old son was still playing Holi outside, and when he returned, the group attacked him with "iron rods and sticks, repeatedly hitting his head and throwing a heavy slab on his chest, killing him."

Tarun was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment. His father added that he was their only support and was studying digital marketing.

Police investigation so far

The police have arrested four individuals in the case so far. The incident has triggered tension in the area as the matter relates to two communities.

As a precautionary measure, the Delhi Police have tightened security to maintain law and order.

Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) of Dwarka district, Kushal Pal Singh, said, "In view of the incident that happened on 4th March, we have made adequate security arrangements. We have divided the area into zones, sectors and sub-sectors. Our motorcycles and vehicles are continuously patrolling".
