Delhi Weather: According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a heat wave is expected in Delhi starting Tuesday and will continue for the next four days. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 44 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Delhi's air quality remains in the moderate category.

On Tuesday, Delhi's minimum temperature was recorded at 20.5 degrees Celsius. The daytime temperature is expected to hover around 41 to 42 degrees Celsius. The sky will remain clear during the day with bright sunshine.

Delhi AQI In Moderate Category

Delhi's AQI was recorded at 171 at 9:30 am on Tuesday. This falls under the moderate category. The air quality in NCR cities is also in the moderate to poor category.

Advisory For Delhi Residents

Meteorologists have warned that Delhi is likely to experience further heat waves over the next few days. The forecast states, "Maximum temperatures are expected to rise by 1-2 degrees in the coming days, making the heatwave conditions even more severe."

People are advised to exercise caution when going out in the sun, as exposure to high temperatures can lead to dehydration, heat exhaustion, and other health problems. People are urged to avoid going outside during the afternoon, drink plenty of water, and wear light cotton clothing.

North India Weather Update

IMD has also alerted several North India states of heat waves for the next few days. The weather department asserted that multiple states, including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Bihar, and Haryana are likely to experience strong hot surface winds. The temperature in these states is likely to rise by five to seven degrees Celsius, leading to inconveniences.

IMD stated that heatwaves are likely to prevail in parts of Northwest, Central, and East India at least till April 27. It further asserted that several regions of Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, East Rajasthan, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, West Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, East Uttar Pradesh, and Odisha are set to witness heat waves.
