DK Shivakumar, who is scheduled to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka today, declared total assets worth Rs 1,413.78 crore in his election affidavit filed during the Karnataka Assembly election.
With assets exceeding Rs 1,400 crore, Shivakumar is set to surpass Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, who is currently the richest chief minister with declared assets worth Rs 931 Crore.

A Look At DK Shivakumar's Net Worth
DK Shivakumar, popularly known as DKS, has declared total assets worth Rs 1,413 crore, marking a significant increase from the Rs 840.08 crore he declared in 2018.
According to his election affidavit, the Congress leader's family holds Rs 273.42 crore in movable assets and Rs 1,140.36 crore in immovable assets.
Of the total immovable assets, properties worth Rs 972.65 crore were held directly in Shivakumar's name. Additionally, Shivakumar disclosed liabilities of approximately Rs 263 crore, News18 reported.
The election affidavit also disclosed that Shivakumar owned a registered vehicle, a Toyota Qualis, along with luxury watches from premium brands such as Rolex and Hublot, besides significant holdings in gold and silver.
Additionally, the election affidavit revealed that 19 criminal cases were pending against the Kanakapura MLA at the time of submitting his nomination papers.

His Political Journey
Shivakumar's political journey began in the early 1980s as a student leader. His breakthrough came in 1989 when, at the age of 27, he was elected to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly from the Sathanur constituency on a Congress ticket. He retained this seat in the 1994, 1999, and 2004 elections.
Following the constituency delimitation, he was shifted to Kanakapura, where he continued his winning streak in 2008, 2013, 2018, and 2023.
On July 2, 2026, he took charge as the President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). Following Congress's landslide victory in the 2023 Karnataka Assembly elections, Shivakumar was appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka.
