Election Results 2026 Highlights: Two days after the election results, the chief minister races in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu are intensifying. In West Bengal, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mamata Banerjee has refused to resign from office, stating that she was not defeated by the public but by a conspiracy.
Meanwhile, in Tamil Nadu, Vijay met Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Arlekar twice on Wednesday to stake a claim to power. However, the officials stated that the Lok Bhavan was exploring legal options to ensure the TVK had the required numbers.
Earlier in the day, the Congress announced to support the Vijay-led TVK to form the government following the new party's strong performance in the assembly elections. According to a report from PTI, Congress has sought at least two ministerial berths in the new cabinet. The other parties of the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA), including CPI, CPI (M), IUML, and VCK, have reportedly denied support for the newly formed party.
