Samajwadi Party Chief and former Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav on Monday took a swipe at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) sharing a video on social media of Vande Bharat Express being pulled by a single engine after a problem developed in it near Etawah. Launching a scathing attack on BJP, he said that the "engine of the double engine government failed".
"This push train of BJP rule, Engine failure in double engine government," read the post on X. This comes as the sudden problem in the engine of Vande Bharat, the most VIP and modern train running in the country, on Monday created a problem for not only the passengers but also the technical team and railway officials. During the journey of about 750 km from New Delhi to Varanasi, Vande Bharat suddenly stopped between Bharthana-Samhon station in Etawah after covering a distance of about 300 km. The engine stopped working.
Train operations on the downline of the Delhi-Howrah route remained halted for about three and a quarter hours. Half a dozen trains stood at the stations behind. Even after a lot of effort, the technical fault was not fixed, so it was pulled by the engine of a goods train and sent back to Delhi. Before this, passengers from Kanpur, Prayagraj and Varanasi were sent by other trains.

North Central Railway Prayagraj Division Public Relations Officer Amit Singh told PTI that the engine of train number 22436, New Delhi - Varanasi Vande Bharat Express, developed a technical fault after passing from Bharthana station at 9 AM.
He said that the train stopped between Bharthana - Samho and efforts were made by the technical team to fix the fault in the train. Meanwhile, a relief engine was sent to the spot from Sarai Bhupat station and it reached there at 10:24 am. The train was brought to Bharthana station, he said.
The Railways arranged a special train at around 2:45 PM to send the passengers from Kanpur to Varanasi, he informed.
