Days after extending the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in several states, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has unveiled a new digital platform and announced plans to revive voter awareness programmes in educational institutions.
The poll body said the final electoral rolls, following the completion of the revision process and publication of the draft rolls, will be released on October 12 and October 19, depending on the state.
The announcement comes at a time when the Election Commission has been facing criticism over the SIR exercise. Several opposition parties have alleged that eligible voters were being arbitrarily removed from the electoral rolls.
The Commission has consistently rejected these allegations, maintaining that the revision is being carried out strictly in accordance with the law. Officials have also stressed that every voter has multiple statutory opportunities to challenge decisions or seek the restoration of their names in the electoral rolls.

ECINET: A One-Stop Digital Platform
The Election Commission held its first nationwide media conference on Sunday, where they spoke about ECINET, an integrated digital platform that brings together a wide range of voter and election-related services on a single mobile application and web portal which was launched in January 2026.
Describing it as a one-stop digital solution for the world's largest democracy, officials said the platform enables citizens to directly access Election Commission services, from voter registration to grievance redressal.
Through ECINET, citizens can:
Register as voters.
Apply for corrections, additions, or deletion of entries in the electoral roll.
Track the status of their applications.
Download digital voter identity cards (e-EPIC).
File election-related complaints.
Verify their names in the electoral roll.
Connect directly with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and other election officials.
Schedule appointments with BLOs and access dedicated services for persons with disabilities.
According to the Election Commission, ECINET has processed more than 101 million registration forms during its pilot phase, averaging nearly 270,000 forms each day.
The platform has onboarded nearly one million Booth Level Officers (BLOs), while more than 1.5 billion documents generated during the SIR exercise have been digitised.
The platform has been designed to serve over one billion voters across 1.1 million polling stations, 543 parliamentary constituencies, and 4,123 assembly constituencies. Services will be available in 22 scheduled languages, in addition to English.
Election Commission officials said integrating multiple citizen-facing services on a single platform will improve administrative efficiency while making it easier for voters to interact with election authorities. They added that the initiative is aimed at enhancing accessibility, streamlining service delivery and strengthening trust in the electoral process.
