Gujarat: In a joint operation, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Ahmedabad Crime Branch and city police, seized over 200,000 tablets of the banned drug Tramadol in the Shahibaug area of Ahmedabad.
According to a report by Jagran.com, a joint team, operating under the guidance of ATS Superintendent of Police K Siddharth, intercepted and searched a Rajasthan-bound luxury bus operated by MR Travels. During the investigation, they recovered over 200,000 tablets of the banned drug, estimated to be worth Rs 8.32 crore in the international market.

Over 200,000 Banned Tramadol Tablets Seized; Accused Arrested
The luxury bus was travelling from Ankleshwar in Gujarat to Pali in Rajasthan when it was intercepted. Upon conducting a thorough search of the vehicle, authorities recovered 208,000 banned Tramadol Hydrochloride tablets, which had been packed into 416 small paper boxes.
Following this, a team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police S L Chaudhary found that the main accused, Paresh Parsmal Jain, had fled to Rajasthan. However, the police launched a manhunt and arrested him in the Gogunda area of Udaipur.
Interrogation Reveals Massive Inter-State Drug Network
During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had smuggled over 6.2 million banned tablets into Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh in May. Previously, he was arrested with banned cough syrup in Uttarakhand and Maharashtra.
Furthermore, investigators stated that Jain was also linked to the smuggling of approximately two kilograms of mephedrone, a drug seized in Vapi just last month. Police arrested four accused in this case.
