A video circulated on social media shows a live worm found inside a sandwich served at the PAUL restaurant in Gurugram's One Horizon Centre after a customer spotted it while having breakfast with friends on Friday. The white-coloured worm was seen crawling inside the sandwich. The post has shocked netizens, questioning the hygiene and safety concerns of customers.

The man has been identified as Sulabh Mathur and went to the Paul restaurant on Friday morning to have breakfast with his friends. The customers ordered five to seven dishes, and a sandwich was one of them.

After eating half of the sandwich, the customer noticed that a worm was moving inside the bread. Mathur recorded the incident and later shared the video on social media, tagging PAUL and highlighting the presence of the worm in the sandwich.

Restaurant Issues Apology

As the video received massive criticism on social media, the restaurant contacted Mathur through calls and messages and apologised for the incident.

The restaurant's management described the incident as unfortunate and said customer safety and trust were its priorities. PAUL also said it was conducting an internal investigation into what happened.

However, the response was criticised by Mathur. Sharing a screenshot of the response from PAUL on social media, he accused the restaurant of trying to address the incident with what he described as a prepared and routine response rather than a genuine concerned reaction.

As of now, the food safety officials have not launched an investigation into the incident. PAUL's internal investigation is expected to examine how the worm ended up inside the sandwich and whether there was any lapse during the preparation, storage or handling of the food.

Further details are awaited from the restaurant regarding the findings of its investigation and any corrective measures it may take following the incident.
