Jagran Correspondent, Gurugram | A man strangled his wife to death in the Bhondsi police station area, Gurugram, Haryana. According to police, the 21-year-old was killed as the accused used to doubt her character. He suspected that Shali, the victim, had an affair.
Accused Attempted To Mislead Police
The accused, Hemant, had tried to mislead the police by claiming that she died due to a stomachache. However, after marks were found on the woman's neck, he was exposed.
On July 27, the police received information from a private hospital in Bhondsi that a woman named Shalu had been brought dead by her husband. When the police team interrogated Hemant, he said that his wife died due to a stomachache, but on inspection of the body, marks were found on her neck.
Shalu Was Married To Hemant In 2025
When the case seemed suspicious, the police informed the woman's relatives. The father filed a complaint to the police and said that his 21-year-old daughter was married to Hemant in 2025. Both of them worked as labourers on a farm near Behalpa Green Farm House and lived there.
On the night of 27 July, around 12.30 am, Hemant called her family and informed them that Shalu was having a stomachache and had become unconscious.
Chunni Used In the Crime Recovered
The father alleged that his son-in-law had strangled his daughter to death. Based on the complaint, Bhondsi police station registered a case under relevant sections. The police took action and arrested the accused on Tuesday morning. He is a resident of Siwara village of Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh.
During interrogation, he told the police that he had doubts about his wife's character. For this reason, he killed Shalu at night by strangulating her with a chunni. To mislead the police, he created a story of death due to stomach pain. The police have also recovered the chunni used in the crime from the possession of the accused.
